1972 Monte Carlo Pro Street repair

The Monte Carlo pictured below, belonged to Keith Shellhouse, the owner of Independent Autobody PLUS.  The repairs outlined here were needed due to fire damage incurred at the race track.  Keith was making a run when a transmission line was ruptured and the fluid caught fire.  Keith was unhurt, but his Monte Carlo suffered a good deal of damage.

'72 Monte Carlo Pro Street Before the fire, this is how the Monte Carlo looked.  The car spent it's fair share of days at the track.  The front clip is all fiberglass.

Rear view Before the fire, the car had painted front and rear bumpers.
Monte Carlo with fire damage After the fire, the Monte looked pretty bad.   Extensive work was needed on the rear of the car.
Engine compartment after repair The engine compartment is all touched up and looking good again after several hours of work.
Rear end The rear end area needed some touch up and cleaning.
After repair from fire damage Keith decided he wanted a more "street" look and opted for a chromed bumper replacement instead of painted.   He also deleted the rear trim strip above the bumper for a different look.
Monte Carlo back on the track Keith's Monte Carlo is back at the race track (and frying more tires) after repairs to all damage, and sporting a new grille and cowl induction hood.  The fire shook Keith up a little, but now he looks at the bright side -- he had an excuse to try a more "streetable" look for his Monte Carlo.
