This factory 5 Cobra project car came to us as a new unfinished body piece, needing a
lot of work right out of the mold.
The new Cobra body comes standard in this blue
gel coat. As we begin, the bonding lines need to be removed.
The bonding lines have been removed and all the
bodywork is completed. The body is sealed with a catalyzed primer.
After wet sanding (a very important step to a
quality finish), the body is allowed to dry.
The body of our Cobra is completely prepped for
painting.
The Cobra gets stripes sprayed on, then it's
time for the main coat of color.
After the body color is applied, the Cobra gets
a complete clear coat.
The owner of this Cobra chose to do much of the
assembly work. Capable owners can save considerable money on a project like this.
Here we show the sheet metal work after it is installed by the owner.
A nice close up here of the finish after final
assembly.
The Cobra is about 90% complete here. The
doors (removed) still need color sanding and polish.
The rear clip is complete with all trim and a
chrome roll bar.
The Cobra is fully assembled after hours of hard
work, sanding, and painting. This car will be turning heads for years, every time it
leaves the garage.
